Tahecapṡuŋ wi
Traditionally, Native Americans’ relationship with the natural world was a kinship. The Dakota people hunted wild game, fished in the rivers and lakes, gathered wild rice, and aligned their lives with the changing seasons. Winter began with Tahecapṡuŋ wi, deer break off antlers moon. This was a time of year that was typically spent indoors, telling stories, and making clothes and supplies.
