On June 25, 2019, the SMSC officially opened Hoċokata Ṫi and its public exhibit Mdewakanton: Dwellers of the Spirit Lake at a special event for Community Members and invited guests. At the Hoċokata Ṫi Grand Opening and Building Dedication, representatives from the area learned about how the building was planned, designed, and constructed.
